Hello, my name is Christopher Nova Smith (RebelutionNova). I was born in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, and the first of three children. My family and I moved to Virginia where I spent a big part of my life. I then moved to the Chicagoland area where I became interested in the current politics of the Ronald Reagan years. After the Reagan years, my political views coincided with the Democratic party as I involved myself with community and environmental activism. I later relocated to Bullhead City, Arizona for my job. While working as an officer I found ways to help the growing houseless community get back on their feet with jobs and housing location.
In 2005, the Nation started showing more signs of a possible economic collapse. I became more involved with paying attention to the Macroeconomics of America. Learning everything I could, as I witnessed the housing crash on a large scale. The houseless community in Arizona and Nevada doubled overnight. In 2007 I was forced to move back to the Chicagoland area after a job related injury. By the beginning of 2008 the economy shifted into a recession. I decided to go back to school and evolve with the growing job market in the “Go Green” movement. I also joined a group called the Student Conservation Association, and asserted myself with individuals who sought out to make a difference in our environment and communities. As people worldwide found themselves on the streets and starving, it became increasingly imperative to find away to keep our community structures together. Tension was rising worldwide and Americans found themselves in a survival mode to stay afloat. 2011 I again became involved with more activism, but this time it was for Social Economic Justice. While going to school and working, my life became wrapped around helping anyone I could in my community organizing for the Occupy movement in Wall Street, Chicago, and Honolulu.
Late 2011, my beagle (Bo) and I moved to Honolulu, Hawai`i while retaining my job, continuing my education, and Still involved with the Social Economic Justice movement. I have spent a majority of my time learning the culture through cultural practitioners, helping the houseless throughout the island, and helping to preserve the natural environment of the island.
My time in Honolulu has given me local political experience not only with the neighborhood board 10 of the Makiki – Tantalus area, but also as a city and state delegate for the Democrat party of Hawai`i and the Vice Chair of the House of Rep. Labor Legislation Committee. The time spent in these fields has gained me better knowledge of the political system and citizens concerns.
